In India, cotton crop is grown in nine major cotton producing states where the land is suitable for cotton with soft black cotton soil. 90% to the National cotton production is by these nine states, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. India ranks first in the world in respect of acreage of with about 8 million hectares of land under cotton cultivation and fourth in total seed cotton production. In India, Gujarat is the largest producer of cotton with vast amount of fertile land with cotton fields. Cotton plant can tolerate temperatures as high as 43 degree centigrade. In southern states, cotton is inter cropped with soybean. Cotton fields with good water power, power etc can be bought in many places for investment or farming.
